Germano Almeida was born in Buavista island; in Cabo Verde, in 1945.He graduated in law in Lisboa and; nowadays, he is a lawyer in Mindelo, his home town. At the beginning of the 80s he started to work as a writer, publishing some narrations for the Ponto& Virgula magazine.
His first novel, Napumoceno da Silva Araujo jaunaren testamentua was decisive in the trajectory of literature in Cabo Verde and; after being published in Portugal, it was great success. The book was shown in the cinema by the film director Francisco Manso and the international awards it received made Almeida´s work be more known in different countries. Meanwhile, it has been published in Brasil, Sweden, Netherlands, Italy, France, Germany, Spain and Norway.
