In 2008, the intervention groups of the French police entered by force a commune self-managed in a village called Tarnac, where eight youths were arrested. They were charged with some acts of sabotage against the SNCF, and imprisoned without any proof, calling them "terrorists". One of them named Julien Coupat, who was said being the leader of the gang, was also accused of being the author of the essay Heldu den matxinada (The coming insurrection).
